Keeping a lawn looking neat usually means giving up part of your weekend to mowing. The MOVA LiDAX Ultra 2000 Robot Lawn Mower takes a very different approach: instead of pushing a mower around the yard, you map the lawn, set your preferences, and let the robot do the work.
What makes this model interesting is that it doesn’t rely on traditional boundary wire or an RTK antenna. MOVA combines 360-degree 3D LiDAR with AI vision to map the yard and identify obstacles. It can cover lawns up to 0.5 acre, making it suitable for many typical residential properties. But smart navigation isn’t the only reason to consider it.
The Setup Is Much Easier Than Traditional Robot Mowers
One of the biggest advantages of the LiDAX Ultra 2000 is the wire-free setup. Instead of spending hours installing perimeter wire around flower beds, trees, and other areas, the mower can create a virtual map of the lawn. MOVA’s system combines LiDAR and AI vision to understand the space around it.
For homeowners who have been avoiding robot mowers because of complicated installation, this is a major selling point. There is still some setup involved, though. You need to guide the mower around the property during mapping and make sure your lawn is suitable for autonomous mowing.
It Can Handle More Than a Flat Lawn
The LiDAX Ultra 2000 isn’t limited to perfectly flat suburban lawns. Its rear-wheel-drive system is rated for slopes up to 45% (24 degrees), while the off-road wheels can handle obstacles up to about 1.6 inches. That gives it considerably more flexibility than a basic robot mower designed only for flat grass.
Real-world testing has also praised its build quality and ability to handle slopes, roots, small branches, and uneven sections of lawn. Of course, wet or muddy conditions can still affect traction. No robot mower should be expected to perform perfectly on every type of terrain.
Edge Cutting Is One of Its Best Features
Robot mowers have traditionally had one frustrating weakness: they often leave a narrow strip of grass along walls and borders.
MOVA addresses this with UltraTrim 1.0, which moves the cutting disc closer to the edge. The company rates the system to cut within roughly 2 inches of certain boundaries.
That’s a useful improvement because it reduces the amount of trimming you’ll have to do afterward. It doesn’t mean you’ll never need a string trimmer. Corners and certain obstacles can still leave small areas untouched.
Smart Obstacle Detection
The LiDAX Ultra 2000 uses 360° 3D LiDAR and AI vision to identify objects in its path. MOVA says the system can recognize more than 300 types of obstacles.
This is particularly useful for households where garden furniture, toys, pets, or other objects occasionally end up on the lawn. The mower also supports nighttime operation, so you’re not restricted to daytime mowing schedules.
Still, I wouldn’t treat obstacle detection as permission to leave everything scattered across the yard. A quick check before mowing is still a good habit.
Plenty of Control From the App
The LiDAX Ultra 2000 isn’t simply a robot that drives around randomly. You can manage different mowing areas and choose between modes such as all-area, zone, edge, spot, and manual mowing. It also supports multiple maps and up to 150 managed zones.
That’s useful if your property has separate front and back lawns or several distinct grass areas. The app does have a learning curve. Some hands-on testing found the mapping controls took a little time to understand, despite the overall setup being straightforward.
What About Battery Life?
MOVA lists around 70–90 minutes of mowing time per charge for the 2000 model, with charging taking about 65 minutes. Its standard mowing efficiency is rated at around 0.3 acre per day, with an efficient mode reaching about 0.4 acre per day.
The important thing is not to interpret this as meaning the mower has to finish the entire lawn in one battery cycle. Like most robot mowers, it can return to the charging station and resume the job later. For a half-acre property, that autonomous stop-and-recharge behavior is part of the design.
Is the MOVA LiDAX Ultra 2000 Worth It?
If you have a lawn of up to around half an acre and want to reduce the amount of time spent mowing, the MOVA LiDAX Ultra 2000 is an impressive option.
Its strongest features are the wire-free mapping, LiDAR and AI obstacle detection, useful edge-cutting system, multiple mowing zones, and ability to handle uneven terrain.
The biggest drawbacks are the learning curve of the app, limitations around tight corners and certain edges, and the fact that it still requires some lawn preparation and occasional trimming.
My Verdict
The MOVA LiDAX Ultra 2000 feels less like a traditional lawn mower and more like a small autonomous lawn-care system.
It won’t completely eliminate lawn maintenance, but it can take the repetitive part of mowing off your schedule. For homeowners who value convenience and have a reasonably suitable yard, that’s a compelling reason to consider it.
